Freeride World Tour 2010
Four locations around the world have been selected for the third edition of the Freeride World Tour.
The planet's top freeride skiers and snowboarders will travel to Russia, USA, France and Switzerland to prove their skills on some of the world's most challenging faces.
The Freeride World Tour has a prize purse of more than $200,000, the highest sum ever to be paid in ski or snowboard freeride contests.

With two weeks to go to the 2010 SBMC the conditions in Riksgränsen are excellent. After a snowfall in the beginning of may, the average snow depth in the valley exceeds 150 cm with a top layer of powder snow.

During the three days, some of the world´s top freeride athletes will battle for the prestigious Scandinavian Big Mountain Champion title. Among the most renowned are Henrik Windstedt and Sverre Liliequist from Sweden. Reine Barkered, second prize winner at the Freeride World Tour 2009 and Christian Björk last year´s SBMC champ, are also two of the big names.

The Norwegian freeride scene is represented by skiers Torgrim Vole, Erik Martinssen and young gun Hans Petter Bakke among others. Mattias Hargin, Olympic competitor and FIS world cup top finisher in slalom, is an interesting outsider in the starting field. The same goes for freestyler Jesper Björnlund, Olympic competitor and world cup top finisher in moguls.

Janette Hargin, former SBMC champion, and Clare Burns, USA, are two of big names in the womens class.

The SBMC 2010 is an official qualifier event to the Freeride World Tour. Thus the SBMC will follow the judging- and scoring system developed by the Freeride World Tour.
