FWQ events are independently organised and have in common the fact that:
1. They use the same judging method as the FWT.
2. They reached a certain quality level in terms of organisation, communication, competition format, competition site, security and hospitality for the riders and benefit from the experience of the FWT and its advisors.

 

Format

Events can be held on one day only, on two days of competition (a qualification day and a final day) with a cut after day one, or on two days both counting for the final ranking.

 

FWQ Ranking

The 2012 FWQ Tour consists of a series of events with different point values from 1* to 4*.
The 2012 season started in New Zealand and will end in Røldal (Norway) in April 2012.
The 2012 FWQ ranking will take the 3 best results of each rider during the 2011/2012 season.

Riders can attend an unlimited amount of events.

 

Registrations

All riders willing to participate in FWQ have to announce/register themselves for each event. FWT will then confirm to the applicant rider whether he/she is accepted or not.

 

FWQ Licence

Available from mid December 2011

 

In order to compete at one or all events, every rider, including wildcards will have to acquire their yearly licence. There are two different types of FWQ licences:

 

FWQ one-event licence (5 €):

This licence has to be purchased by riders who wish to compete in a maximum one event per year. If a rider who has purchased a one-event licence wishes to compete in more events, he/she will have to upgrade to a season licence (only pays the difference).

This one-event licence offers the following services:

1. Generating a unique number per athlete, avoiding spelling mistakes on starting lists and rankings.
2. Automated registration window for all FWQ events on FWT website.
3. Rider’s results in the seeding and ranking list.
4. Special deals, including 10% discount on FWT web shop, other deals to come soon.

 

FWQ season licence (25 €):

This licence has to be purchased by riders who wish to compete the whole season. This season licence offers the following services:

1. Generating a unique number per athlete, avoiding spelling mistakes on starting lists and rankings.
2. Automated registration window for all FWQ events on FWT website.
3. Rider’s results in the seeding and ranking list.
4. A personal webpage per athlete on FWT website, with possibility to upload pictures, video links, sponsors, short bio, best results for your: sponsors, medias, fans, friends, event speakers,…
5. Special deals, including 20% discount on FWT webshop, other deals to come soon.

 

Wild Cards

Each FWQ organizer has 5 WildCards and can decide to whom they wish to give them to.

 

Insurance

All riders have the obligation to contract the FWQ evacuation insurance which will cover the costs of evacuation/snow patrol/ambulance/heli costs to hospital and back home). This mandatory evacuation insurance covers as well some medical costs, but each riders should carefully check that they have a personal medical insurance effective in all countries where they are competing and that they are covered in case of participation in an extreme freeride contest (should they need heavy local medical treatment in case they can’t be transported back home). In the disclaimers that each rider will have to sign when entering a contest, it will be mentioned that he has checked the above.

Age

The minimum age is 18 for all FWT and FWQ events. No exception will be made.

Open events / sister events

A growing number of riders are unsuccessfully trying to enter FWQ events. Therefore some of the FWQ organizer will organize Open events or partner with an existing non-FWQ event, called “Sister event”. These Open/Sister events will attribute starting places for the associated FWQ event.

The best riders of the Open/Sister event will get a spot in the FWQ. The organizer can decide a minimum of spots (for example all winners) but a maximum of 8 (top 3 SKI M / top 2 SKI W / top 2 SNB M / winner SNB W) which will automatically qualify for the first FWQ day of competition. The number of participation spots for FWQ riders inscribing via FWT website will decrease accordingly (-8 spots maximum).

Open registrations is run by the organizer directly.

Open/Sister event riders qualified for the FWQ will have to:

- get their FWT license

- register online on the FWT website.

All FWQ riders have to address their questions to the organizers of the FWQ events they are willing to participate in.
