Registration Tips

2014 season FWQ and Junior Rider Information:

Credit Cards: Credit cards are NOT debited when riders inscribe for an event, FWT only takes an authorization of debit. Some banks will show this authorization in their monthly reports but the money will only be debited 3 days after riders have been accepted for an event. You will receive a mail with an invoice, saying that your card has been debited.

Registration: We open registrations 7 weeks prior to each event and close registrations (if the event is full) 3 weeks prior to the event. This leaves you 4 weeks to register for each event. We do this so that you won't be registering for too many events at the same time and have too much money reserved on your credit card. Even though the money is not debited, it is reserved and cannot be used anymore. So it would mean a lot of money blocked if you would register for 10 events at the same time.

Security: After last year's issue on credit card fraud, Member Pro has been testing all their firewalls and we are been told that the platform is secure.

FWQ Event cut and seeding list: 3 weeks prior to the event, we will close registrations and invite riders according to the number of starting places the event organizer is willing to give and following the seeding list order. You can check where you stand on the waiting list before we close registrations by clicking on the + button on the right side of the event registration on the Member Pro platform. If you see that there's a good chance that you won't be taken for this event, you should register for another one for the same weekend as both registrations will close the same day. If you are accepted for 2 events on the same weekend, you will have 3 days to cancel one of the registrations and your credit card will not be debited.

For example: over 200 riders have inscribed today for the FWQ3* Axamer Lizum. Only 65 riders will be taken for this event. The cut will most likely be somewhere around place 25 ski men, 17 snow men, 14 ski women and 9 snow women. If you don't think that you will make the cut, and want to be sure you can compete this weekend, try to register for the La Clusaz 2* or the Verbier 2* to increase your chances.

JFT Junior Tour Cut: We will give a priority to juniors inscribing for the whole tour. However, as we can take a maximum of 80 juniors per event, we will only accept 70 juniors for the Tour to leave a minimum of 10 places per stop for regional riders. As we already have over 100 juniors inscribed for the Tour, we will not be able to accept everyone. We will use last year's results to help us chose who is accepted and then we will check who registered first to fill in the remaining spots.

As we already had to refuse juniors last season, we pushed organizers to start offering JFT1* events. So juniors who are not accepted for the JFT2* have a chance to inscribe for these events. We will close registrations for the JFT 2* Tour on the 20th of December, in order to give time to riders who are not accepted for the Tour to register for another event before we close registrations of the JFT1* events.

About the registration platform

FWQ Riders Ranking and Registration Rules:

The Freeskiing World Tour, The North Face Masters, and the Freeride World Tour have merged into a unique tour with three leagues, the Freeride World Tour, the Freeride World Qualifier and the Junior Freeride Tour. The three tours are made up of over 40 events around the world, ranked from 1 to 4-star.

There will be one worldwide FWQ ranking list based on each riders three best results from May 16, 2013 through April 22, 2014.

The top riders of the FWQ tour will be qualified for the 2015 Freeride World Tour. Twenty-two spots will be awarded for the two regions, 11 spots for Region 1 riders (Europe, Asia, Oceania) and 11 spots for Region 2 riders (Americas: Canada, USA, Central and South America).

The top four ski men, top three ski women, top three snowboard men, and the first snowboard woman from each region, out of the unique world wide FWQ ranking, will be qualified for the 2015 Freeride World Tour.

FWQ event registrations will close 21 days prior to the event. At this time those riders who have registered will be sorted based on their position on the seeding list. The seeding list is a ranking using the best 3 results of each rider, during the last 52 weeks. It is updated every week. All FWT riders will have first priority into the event, followed by FWQ riders with 2013 points. Any remaining spots will be filled on a first-come-first-serve basis.

For Region 2 riders, for whom the FWQ tour is new, the ranking list from last year’s Freeskiing World Tour, FWQ tour and The North Face Masters were used to award FWQ points for this season.

The complete rules can be found at www.freerideworldtour.com under FWQ.

Membership and Registration Platform:

For the 2014 season, the event registration platform has been prepared in partnership with MemberPro, a company offering the same services for the ASP surf tour or the TTR snowboard events.

Each rider must become a member, purchase a license and create a personal profile on MemberPro in order to register for events.

There are two types of licenses;

• Tour license – this license will be valid for the 2014 season (ending

April 22, 2014).

• One-event license – this license will be valid for one event.

Region 1 and Region 2 riders who had a profile in the old FWT registration platform will receive an email with a login and password to enter that will allow them to update their profile in the new platform.

Region 1 riders who already purchased their one-event or tour license will see their license activated on their profile. Region 2 riders who already purchased a license on the old platform, will be reimbursed and will have to repurchase a license on the new platform. All other riders will have to become members, create a profile and purchase a license before registering for their first event.

In case a rider with a one-event license is never accepted into any event during the whole season, their license will be reimbursed at the end of the season upon written request.

When a rider registers for an event, they will be required to give their credit card details during their registration process. Registration will close 21 days prior to the event. At this time, all accepted riders will receive an email confirming their acceptance. If they do not want to accept their registration, they must cancel within five days to prevent their credit card from being charged. If the rider decides to cancel their registration, their spot will be given to the next rider on the waiting list.
