Bio
competing since: 2005
first time on snow: 1985
favorite maneuvers on snow: I dunno.. I try to ride the things that seems most fun to ride
what does it mean to be part of the FWT: For me it's a big deal. Getting to compete with the best skiers in
the world is at the least exciting. With decent weather and good
snow-conditions, this could easily be my best comp-experience ever.
And I have to say, seeing Zackrisson in Claim, and having seen what the
others are capable of, I'm specially stoked on competing against the
swedes.
Best Place to ride: In the snow. I don’t really have a favorite resort. With the right conditions, any resort is a favorite.
Best Rider of all time: Shane McConckey
Best Rider of nowadays: I always liked the way Sage Cattabriga Alosa ride,
Favorite Movie: Inception, Fear and Loathing
Favorite song: Souls Of Mischief – ’93 till infinity
Favorite Book/Magazine: Fri Flyt magazine
If you had one wish what would it be: A long and happy life.
Perfect riding day: Back home at Lemonsjøen, waist deep. Don’t really happen that often. Last time was November 2002
Hike or Helicopeter: Helicopter any day
Beer or Wine: Beer and wine
Pasta or Burger: Pasta
Anythingelse: That’s about it !
Gear's up
Boards: My weapon of choice this year will be the 4FRNT Turbo. This is a killer with a waist of 108 mm, 23-meter turn radius, minimum camber and a rocker tip.
Binders: I use the 4FRNT Deadbolt 18 set up at 13. I have yet to lose my ski when I'm not supposed to and the most important thing about your bindings is to trust them. They are mounted by the factory recommendations, and I don't feel any need to experiment. I like the slick design and the way the front binding looks like a tiny spaceship ready for some serious launching.
Built for: They’re basically skis made for backcountry jibbing. Their reasonable measurements combined with my light weight makes this a ski I can use for whatever kind of skiing. I like to travel light and not have to swap skis for every different kind of snow.
Lovin’: My all-time favorite ski, works both on and off the slopes and the rocker makes it float really well in waist-deep powder as well.
Kicks: This season I swapped my five-year-old Lange Molaro boots for a new pair of Lange RX freeride. I got new foam liners from Conformable and made all the adjustments necessary to make them fit my feet. Boots are more important than your skis and if you find a pair you like, don't let them go until you have to.
Colors: I've been skiing with clothes and helmet from Sweet Protection for some time now. They are a self-made, no-compromise company from Trysil, Norway, which, in my opinion, makes the best gear there is. They are constantly progressing and have made it their signature to be the cutting edge of what technical clothing can be. I like the short distance between the chiefs and the riders, and they put a lot of effort in getting feedback from their team-riders to make the proper adjustments. This year I'll be using the Renegade pant and jacket the most – from their big mountain Resolution Series – with clean colors, red and yellow. Check sweetprotection.com for more eye-candy.
Vision: The Rouge goggle from Dragon fits inside the Trooper helmet, snug as a bug.
Pack: Vertical Playground, a shop from Oppdal, Norway hooked me up with a neat EVOC backpack to fit my ABS system to keep me safe in the mountains.
During Freeride World Tour competitions all riders wear transceivers and carry backpacks with shovels and probes.
