2022 FWQ Region 2 FINALS Athlete Roster Confirmed
Three competitions remain in North America for Region 2 riders to earn qualification to Freeride World Tour 2023…
The Freeride World Qualifier Finals begin this week in North America at Crystal Mountain, Washington (14-16 March). The series then moves to Big Sky Montana, Montana (23-24 March) and Kirkwood, California (31 March – 1 April) for the conclusion of the tour. These three events will determine the overall Region 2 (Americas) FWQ champions, as well as which riders are qualified to the Freeride World Tour 2023.
2022 has been a year of big changes in the world of Freeride. Both the Freeride World Tour and the Freeride World Qualifiers adopted a brand-new tour format for establishing global rankings and tour qualifications. For both tours, the first half of the season works as a preliminary round, with a reduced group of top-ranked riders advancing to the newly-established Finals stage.
Region 2’s preliminary events concluded in early March with the competition in Taos, New Mexico. Following this tour stop, the final field of athletes qualified to the FWQ Finals was established.
In both global FWQ regions, the finals athlete roster includes 9 Snowboard Women, 11 Ski Women,14 Snowboard Men, and 26 Ski Men. Also joining this group are riders from the 2022 Freeride World Tour who fell below the cut line following the recent event in Kicking Horse Golden, Canada.

WHO WILL QUALIFY FOR THE FWT23?
The upcoming event at Crystal Mountain is the first of the Region 2’s FWQ Finals events. On the other side of the Atlantic, Region 1’s FWQ Finals are already underway. Two of three events have already been completed, in Nendaz, Switzerland and Jasna Slovakia, with the final event in Gurgl, Austria (April 1 - 5) remaining.
Although the FWT represents the top of the global ranking pyramid, the FWQ events are often just as exciting, with the hungriest up-and-coming riders throwing down progressive performances on legendary venues. These events all come with their own must-see live broadcasts, available through www.freerideworldtour.com, as well as up-to-the-minute updates on social media.
