New face, same high stakes: the freeride elite descend in Val Thorens for Stop 2
- Competition confirmed for this Monday, January 26
- Official venue: Pointe de Thorens, Val Thorens
- Dropping order: Snowboard Men, Snowboard Women, Ski Men, Ski Women
The FIS Freeride World Tour by Peak Performance is thrilled to confirm that the Val Thorens Pro is officially on for Monday, January 26. The world’s top freeride skiers and snowboarders will descend on a brand-new venue, Pointe de Thorens (3,200m), for the second stop of the 2026 season.
With one event already completed, riders now face their next challenge: adapting to an untouched face with no prior competition history. The level playing field will test consistency, creativity, and risk management as athletes push their limits on a fresh canvas.
After strong performances in Spain, the French riders will be there with the ambition of claiming a victory in front of their home crowd. Five of them are from Val Thorens and will enjoy special support from a crowd already firmly behind them.

Pointe de Thorens: A bold new venue
Due to current snow conditions, the original competition face at Cime Caron was deemed unsuitable. In its place, organizers have selected Pointe de Thorens, located on the eastern edge of the resort. This north-facing slope, part of an ancient glacier zone, will make its Freeride World Tour debut.
With a 460-meter vertical drop and an average gradient of 38°, the venue promises dynamic line options and big-mountain terrain. The upper section features pitches up to 47° with natural features ideal for technical freeride lines, while the lower section opens into a freestyle-friendly zone, perfect for tricks and creative finishes.
Benefiting from consistent snowfall from eastern systems throughout the early season, the face is set for action.

Event Schedule
