The Freeride World Tour (FWT) is pleased to announce the appointment of Joseph Villeflayoux as its new Head of Communications. With over 20 years of experience in the action sports industry and a strong background in digital strategy, Villeflayoux will lead the global communications efforts of the FWT as it continues to grow under the International Ski & Snowboard Federation (FIS).
Villeflayoux previously held several leadership roles at Hurricane Group, notably as Vice-President, where he led the FISE World Series, the world’s largest festival of urban sports, as Marketing and Communications Director, and oversaw the group’s digital agency, Hurricane Creative, specialized in action sports and youth culture. Throughout his career, he has contributed to the growth and international recognition of urban disciplines and particularly BMX Freestyle, which he actively supported in its journey toward Olympic inclusion. He also played a key role in promoting other emerging sports such as Skateboarding, Breaking, and Parkour, helping them gain visibility and legitimacy on the global stage.
This appointment comes at a pivotal time for the Freeride World Tour. Following its integration within FIS, the FWT is entering a new chapter of expansion, with a clear ambition to elevate the global visibility of freeride skiing and snowboarding. The 2026 season will mark two historic milestones: the long-awaited return of freeride competition to Alaska, and the launch of the first-ever FIS Freeride World Championships, to be held in Andorra in 2026, a defining moment for the sport on the international stage.
