Baqueira Beret Pro competition confirmed

FWT23 kicks off this weekend in Baqueira Beret, Spain, as freeride athletes make their final preparations to battle for the world title.

The FWT season opener has been confirmed for this Sunday, January 29, with the weather and snow conditions looking optimal for riders to charge their hardest. The Pyrenees has seen a lot of storm activity of late, and consistent polar air has driven snowfall to lower altitudes. This has ensured the venue is ready for competition and, with light winds and a mix of sun and clouds forecast for Sunday, FWT organizers have given the green light for FWT23 to begin.

Who will be victorious in Baqueira Beret?

Competition-hungry athletes have been shredding the mountain in the lead up to the event, exploring the varied freeride terrain the region has to offer. The level this year looks insane, but who has got that extra bit of spice to stand out from the roster? Returning world champions Maxime Chabloz, Jessica Hotter and Tiphanie Perrotin will surely fight hard to retain their titles. And be sure to keep an eye on the strong local contingent, including Aymar Navarro, Abel Moga and event wildcard Elisabet Marina.

Live coverage starts at 12:20 CET, with the running order as follows:

  • 12:30 – snowboard women
  • 13:00 – snowboard men
  • 13:45 – ski women
  • 14:30 – ski men

The health and safety of all athletes and staff is always the top priority for FWT organizers, and the team has been working hard to prepare the venue for competition.
