In 2022, Noémie made the switch from slopestyle to freeride. A bold move that quickly paid off: just two years later, she dominated the FWT Challenger series, claiming three Stop wins and earning her ticket to the FWT 2025.
Despite barely having time to process what was happening, her results spoke clearly: she was ready for the Pro circuit. And from the very start of her first season on the Freeride World Tour, the French rider was already making headlines. In Baqueira, under tough snow conditions, she came out swinging. Where many expected a seasoned veteran to take the win, it was a rookie who stole the spotlight with a stunning first victory.
words from noémie
I’m so excited, winning my first FWT competition is unreal. I’m really happy!
The momentum carried into Val Thorens, her home mountain. Competing in front of her crowd while wearing the golden bib, the pressure was immense. This was her chance to prove that Baqueira hadn’t been a beginner’s stroke of luck, but the result of years of work, discipline, and raw talent. Her run was nearly flawless, and she briefly claimed the top spot… until her friend and mentor, four-time FWT champion Marion Haerty, stepped in as a wildcard. This time, experience edged out youth, and Equy finished 2nd: a reminder that even rising stars still learn from the masters.
Her first real setback came at Kicking Horse in Canada. A missed landing left her in 4th place, off the podium for the first time, and doubts naturally crept in. Was her brilliant start beginning to fade? But Equy didn’t let the stumble define her season. In Georgia, she came roaring back with a decisive win.
words from noémie
I am super happy to win here today. This was the stage I was really looking forward to because I wanted to discover Georgia, and the venue is incredible. I was pleased with my line choice and landing a 360, which made the difference.
In Austria at Fieberbrunn, she did it again. The gap in the standings became unbridgeable, and she secured the overall title even before reaching the grand finale.
Then came Verbier. On the legendary Bec des Rosses, the most feared and revered face in freeride, Equy didn’t flinch. She claimed yet another victory, sealing a historic rookie season: 4 wins and 5 podiums in 6 events.
words from noémie
Winning the title and the Xtreme Verbier in my rookie season is more than I could have ever expected.
The revelation is complete. Noémie Equy had set herself two goals: to win the Tour, and to triumph in Val Thorens. The first is now boldly checked. The second remains within reach. And one thing is certain: next season, on her home mountain, Noémie will stop at nothing to capture the victory that still eludes her.
