Maria Castellví Bono awarded Event Wildcard for 2026 Baqueira Beret Pro by Movistar

Rising talent from Val d’Aran set to make her FWT Pro debut on home snow

The FIS Freeride World Tour by Peak Performance (FWT) is proud to confirm that Spanish skier Maria Castellví Bono (SPA) has been awarded an Event Wildcard for the 2026 Baqueira Beret Pro by Movistar. The young talent from Val d’Aran will have the opportunity to make her debut on the FWT Pro circuit in front of a home crowd on terrain she knows intimately.

Maria began her competitive freeride journey in 2022 at just 17 years old, immediately turning heads by winning both of the FWT Junior competitions she entered. Her early results marked her as one to watch. In her last season as junior she became 5th at the junior World Championships in Käppl (Austria).

She transitioned to the adult circuit, the FWT Qualifier, in 2024, a step up in both technicality and competition level. With acrobatic tricks now allowed, Maria showed exceptional composure and adaptability, claiming two 3* event victories in her debut season.

Her momentum continued into 2025, where she achieved a remarkable milestone: winning four events and securing the overall FWT Qualifier title in the Ski Women category, officially earning her place among the sport’s elite.

Maria is the latest standout from Val d’Aran’s fast-growing freeride scene, following in the tracks of local icons like Abel Moga (SPA), a current FWT Pro competitor, and Aymar Navarro (SPA), whose legacy continues to inspire a new generation of Spanish freeriders.

Words from Maria

There are more and more girls in the world of freeriding, and I love that. We motivate each other to try new things and keep improving.

Maria Castellví Bono

By awarding Maria this Event Wildcard, the FWT offers her the chance to compete on the world stage in a familiar environment, cheered on by a home crowd and backed by years of experience on the terrain of Baqueira Beret.

She will, however, face fierce competition in the Ski Women category, including seasoned veterans such as Justine Dufour-Lapointe (CAN), a two-time FWT Champion and reigning winner of the 2025 Baqueira Beret Pro by Movistar. Maria will need to bring her very best to challenge athletes with significantly more FWT experience but if her track record is any indication, she’s more than capable of rising to the occasion.
